Blue, all blue

Blue, all blue

Nathan rose from his bed, entered the bathroom, and examined his reflection in the mirror. Immediately, he noticed minuscule blue specks on his face. Lifting his pajama shirt, he found they were also on his chest. Surprisingly, he didn't feel any ticklish sensation; on the contrary, he felt good. It couldn't be an allergic reaction. The blue specks reappeared as he opened his mouth to brush his teeth, adorning his smile—the first one of that day. Without delay, he stuck out his tongue, confirming that this phenomenon was occurring inside and out. Although he was off duty, he needed to go shopping. But how? What about the comments and questions? Should he see a doctor? The dermatologist surely wouldn't be available on the same day. Nathan scrutinized his entire body, and there was no mistaking it. It was the most peculiar thing in the world!

If he had stepped outside, he would have noticed that the streets were practically deserted. He wasn't the only one experiencing this strange occurrence. Everyone, without exception, was terrified of this sudden and bizarre "illness." Some were affected more than others. Nathan turned on the television to distract himself from this torment, and it was then that he saw the news.

The issue extended beyond the city, beyond the country, encompassing the entire world. Furthermore, it wasn't only affecting people. Everything, from plants to water and even the air, turned blue. At that moment, he realized everything inside his house was completely blue. Anxious, Nathan opened the door and stepped outside. The number of specks was so vast everywhere that objects and people no longer appeared dotted; they were simply blue. Inexplicably, Nathan's mood changed. He felt immense joy and a strong desire to sing and run. And this feeling was contagious; everyone seemed to share his sentiments. Within an hour or two, nothing was visible anymore; everything had transformed into indigo. However, one could still hear people screaming. These were, however, screams of pure happiness.

Gradually, the noise subsided until it finally faded away. What followed was an overwhelming peace, so immense that it felt like a true paradise. If someone were observing Earth from afar, they would see an enormous blue sphere. Rays of light emanated from an infinite blue glow, clearly discernible within the solar system and even in the Milky Way.

And so, it marked the end of the world, unlike anything anyone could have ever imagined.
